These terms cover your use of ReadMini, operated by OffbeatPort.
The service
ReadMini estimates how much of a text's reading effort its intended reader could skip without losing what matters, given what the text is for. The Reader Tax, the shorter versions, the key points and all other output are automated estimates. They can be wrong, and they are not a substitute for reading the original when it matters.
Accounts
You need an account to analyse anything. Reading a result someone shared with you does not need one. You sign in with Google, Apple or GitHub, or with your email and a password; keep them secure. One account per person.
Your content
Only submit URLs to pages you can lawfully access and text you have the right to use. You keep all rights to text you paste. You allow us to process it to provide the service, as described in the privacy page.
When you analyse a public article, ReadMini shows its text alongside the analysis, with attribution and a link to the original, so the analysis can be checked against it. Images load from the publisher's own site. Key points and shorter versions are derived from the article. None of this replaces the original article, and rights in that article stay with its publisher.
Plans and allowances
Free includes 5 analyses in total; it does not reset. Pro includes 100 and Power 500 analyses in each monthly billing period, and unused analyses do not carry over. An analysis counts when ReadMini creates a new one for you. Opening or sharing a result, switching between reading lengths and submitting an article that already has a result do not count, and an analysis that fails is given back.
Paid plans renew monthly until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account, and your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Changing between Pro and Power is done through Stripe, which shows any difference in price before you confirm. We may change prices or allowances with notice before your next renewal.
Fair use
Do not use ReadMini to overload other websites, to get around paywalls or access controls, to collect results automatically at scale, or to get around the free allowance with extra accounts. We may suspend or close accounts that do.
Liability
ReadMini is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, OffbeatPort is not liable for decisions made on the basis of its output.
Changes
When these terms change, the date at the top changes too. Continuing to use ReadMini after a change means you accept it.
